DeCare offer €500 for June Nunn Prize

The society, in association with DeCare, is delighted to announce the June Nunn Prize for 2016.

The June Nunn Prize, formerly the Service Innovation Bursary, will be awarded for a Service Innovation in Special Care Dentistry. The prize of € 500 will be awarded at the ISDH Annual Conference in June 2016. The prizewinner(s) will be invited to give a short oral presentation of their successful entry at the Summer Conference.

Who can enter?

This prize is open to members and non-members of ISDH.

This is an open competition meaning that anyone can apply. This includes, but is not restricted to dentists, dental nurses, hygienists, oral health promoters, non-dental healthcare professionals, advocates and members of the public. Applicants can apply from across professional backgrounds including those working in the HSE or general/ specialist/ hospital practice in Ireland.

What do I/we have to do?

Tell us in under 500 words how your brainwave improved oral care for people with disabilities in your practice. Back it up with photos, copies of documents,

testimonials, etc. Examples of the type of entry that may be successful are: innovations in the way services are delivered; novel ways to provide dental care for people with disabilities; interdisciplinary working with parent/carer support groups.


How do I apply?

Send your entry as an email attachment to by 5th May 2016. The email must clearly indicate which competition is being entered. Contact details

  • It is a requirement that the submitted piece would not have been presented elsewhere nor been awarded a prize previously
  • The decision of the panel of judges is final and will be communicated by 25th May 2016.
  • Entries will not be returned.
  • Please note the Society does not undertake to pay the expenses of the Author (s)
